Journal Time

I’m not in the mood to really talk about this in much detail. The material speaks for itself. Let us all just remember that I was 17 when I wrote this “poem” and very much in tune with matters of marital infidelity, alcoholism, single parenthood, mental illness and domestic abuse.

I kind of messed up on scanning the full page – so please allow me to provide the full transcript below. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you…

Love Today

I saw a woman crying
as he said his last goodbye
their love was truly over,
all his feelings had finally
died

(See how the word “died” is intentionally placed alone on that line? So poignant.)

The motel is dark and lonely
and they are together
once again. As his frightened
wife sits waiting, just
wanting it to end

The alcohol has killed her,
a prisoner to its pain, she
lives her life w/o him as
she slowly goes insane

He promised he’d be different
but he hits her to the floor. As she reaches for her
child, she knows it’s like before

They say that love is kind
they say that love is true
they say love is forever
and will surely come to you.

But love today is scary
never knowing quite for sure,
if your love will crumble at
your feet or last forever
more.

As the promise of eternal
love is shattered once again,
people keep on searching
for the love w/o an end.

God, help us all. I mean, holy motherfucking wow.
Happy Friday, everyone. Your Song of the Day is Sleigh Bells, Rill Rill. I saw these cats live a few months ago and there’s just no other way to describe it, this song is downright sexy. Enjoy.

Um, please forgive me. I don't know how I posted an additional random picture of crab Rangoon. That was a mistake. But it stays because 1) it's cracking me up and 2) I really do love crab Rangoon.

I used to write about abuse and single parenthood all the time back in my own embarresing poetry days. I guess those subjects just lend themselves. Whatevs.

Also, I'm so jealous you saw them live. Treats has been on heavy repeat this entire week and Rill Rill is one of my faves off of it.

Also! I noticed the crab Rangoon but I didn't know if maybe it represented some hip thing I didn't know about.

Like, "holy motherfucking wow, I'm such a crab Rangoon."

Which probably shouldn't be an insult, but crab Rangoon is nommy!
